The fine weather forecast for the weekend – sunshine and temperatures up to 16C in Hastings on Sunday – has prompted councils and tourism bodies to call on people not to flock to beauty spots and the sea but to stay at home. Nick Terdre reports.
In these challenging times, we need other things besides food to nurture us. And at this time it is an opportunity to exercise not only our bodies but our minds and do those things that we have always wanted to do – and found excuses not to do or simply never done or achieved. In these bizarre, uncertain times we hear extraordinary tales about community. Both good and bad. At HOT we tend to lean towards the best in Hastings and St Leonards where there is a lot of good nature, humour and a very definite sense of community. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths has put together a list of some of the food outlets and shops that are at present delivering or have produce ready for collection so you can eat healthily, collect your goods and stay safe.
As the corona virus tightens its grip on society, there has been a heart-warming upswell across the country of support and offers of help for those who most need it – the elderly, vulnerable, those suffering from the virus and those who for whatever reason are unable to provide for themselves in conditions of lockdown. Hastings Borough Council, together with partners, has set up a community hub to coordinate the effort. Nick Terdre reports.
