HBC rebuts Lee’s claims over failure of full council to meet

Vandals target public toilets

Just a few days after reopening public toilets, several have been vandalised, the council says. It is also just a few days since Conservative councillor Rob Lee criticised the council for being slow to reopen toilets. Nick Terdre reports.

Grant deadline early Wednesday!

Small businesses excluded from other forms of government support have until Wednesday to lodge an application for the discretionary grant fund. Small business grants have reached 85% take-up, according to the council. Nick Terdre reports.

Lee’s call to preserve Hastings’ statues and monuments

As a critical eye is turned on statues and monuments across the land, Cllr Rob Lee has called on the council to defend the town’s heritage and take action to preserve our statues and memorials. Tories purged from Cabinet at behest of council leader

Tories and HBC at odds over relaxing restrictions

While local Tories call for restrictions to be relaxed, and toilets and tennis courts to be reopened, the Labour-dominated council says such facilities will stay shut for the time being and urge visitors to stay away. On 1 June the government is partially easing the lockdown. Nick Terdre reports.

Council votes itself new powers to continue making decisions in the days of coronavirus
