Trams might be rolling in the old town soon says new Mayor
Trams that take you from Station Plaza to the heart of Hastings Old Town and drop you off in George Street are a neat idea but potentially a lethal hazard at busy times. Using West Street, that runs alongside George Street is a solution that has gained traction. Veracity Pundit reports.
The town hall session this week was rocked by news of this scheme coming to fruition. Until now it had been kept largely a secret due to fears of rivalry and sabotage. Bus companies and taxi firms have been known to put the kibosh on any other forms of public transport.
Newly appointed Mayor Stiggy Anstruther has brushed critics aside and begun a tram enterprise of their own. The hopes are that this massive investment will pay off. If not, it might be a dead loss. The new trams are an innovation however, being propelled by electric cells and requiring top ups only once a week. The energy cells are believed to be of a hydrogen reactor type but the details are kept secret.
And what of St Leonards? You ask, as though a volley of angry quick-fire questions makes you look intelligent. Another tram for the art attack swan-neck suburb is also planned, the route being less contentious, would use the wide roads and bus lanes on the sea front. The only issue for some would be the placing of rails over the lauded Bottle Alley stretch. Watch this space, in case a tram comes along.
