Trinity Triangle mural: soon to be on display

People attending Arts on Prescription creative sessions have been working on a mural inspired by the lives and places within the Trinity Triangle. On 13 June, the mural will go on display at Hastings library. HOT’s Zelly Restorick met up with Tara Reddy, co-founder of Arts on Prescription to find out more.

Get Started! with Active Arts

The return of the much loved Active Arts & Friends variety show marks a much needed boost for the spirits of the Hastings and Bexhill Mencap Artists, who after two years of Covid enforced cancellations are making a welcome return to the De La Warr Pavilion stage on the 6 July.

Good news for Gensing Gardens

On Friday 25 March, local residents, Councillors and the ATownExploresABook team gathered to mark the 150th anniversary of Gensing Gardens. HOT’s Erica Smith, who is also involved with ATownExploresABook, was there to share the plans for celebration through the spring and summer.

Mondays in March are for Model Making!

The great joy in 1970s households was the cereal packet. Vouchers and gifts could be found inside them, and when you had finished munching their edible contents, there was nothing better to do than cut them up to make models. This is why artist Mark Daniels seized on the opportunity to get involved with the ATownExploresABook22 Art Trail inspired by Rumer Godden’s 1972 novel, The Diddakoi. HOT’s Erica Smith limbers up for a session with scissors and cardboard.

Seaview: a Bloomin’ Britannia lovely choir

Artistic director of Barefoot Opera, Jenny Miller, sings the praises of the Seaview Choir, one of many groups of singers participating in Bloom Britannia – the community opera running from Friday 22–Sunday 24 October at St Mary in the Castle.

Poetry on the prom

A new mural has arrived on St Leonard’s lower prom by the clock  at the foot of London Road. Artist Jill Rock had the vision for the artwork, and it came into being as the result of a collaboration between local painters and poets from Hastings Writing for Wellbeing. Jill Rock tells us more.

The return of St Leonards Festival
