The ‘Playing the Race Card’ project is to give BAME artists in the locality an opportunity to showcase their art and be in with the chance of winning an amazing cash prize of £500. Last Friday Mama Putt’s restaurant in Kings Road St Leonards hosted the launch of an exciting new project called Playing the Race card. HOT’s Erica Smith was lucky enough to be invited and went home clutching the best goodie bag in the world – and a whole plate of food for thought.

Following the failure of a High Court application this summer to secure legal status for humanist weddings, a private member’s bill is now seeking the same end in the Commons. If this also fails, it is likely humanists will have to wait at least until 2023, when the Government is expected to implement recommendations for changes in wedding law from the Law Commission.
