Tim Nathan all at sea

The Lucy Bell Gallery has staged a very different exhibition from the often-featured pop icons which regularly populate her walls. This exhibition is fresh, vibrant, immersive. all about the sea. Like so many others before her, Lauris Morgan-Griffiths was drawn here through her love of the the ocean, and was bowled over by these extraordinary images when she went to talk to the photographer Tim Nathan.

Local artist Mary Hooper joins Global Sound Walk September Festival

It might seem strange that a walk in itself can be a work of art. Yet there has long been a tradition of British artist walkers – or walking artists: Francis Alÿs, Richard Long, Hamish Fulton to name but three. Alÿs explains the value of his walks: “A journey implies a destination, so many miles to be consumed, while a walk is its own measure, complete at every point along the way.” Now local artist Mary Hooper has joined the walking ranks as part of the global Sound Walk September Festival. HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths was intrigued.

HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths was keen to know more about their planned activities.

Local councils and voluntary organisations step up to help the homeless live, work, thrive

Due to Government funding during the initial stage of lockdown there was a great effort to get the homeless off the street and housed in hotels, hostels or whatever accommodation could be found. That funding, sadly, did not last a year. Now, however, with the realisation of the difference a secure place to live can make, voluntary organisation are working together to support the homeless.  HOT’s Lauris Morgan-Griffiths was interested to find out how they and local councils are stepping up to help those who have fallen through the system.
