Grant to kickstart urgent repair programme at His Place

The future is looking brighter for His Place community church following the award of a grant from Historic England to perform detailed planning for an extensive programme of repairs and to research its musical heritage. An open day and free concert is planned on 12 March which the church hopes will help drum up community support for its bid for funds to implement the repairs. Nick Terdre reports.

New life in community use for 12 Claremont

Many have wondered while walking past the elegant 12 Claremont – next door to Hastings Library–what is going to happen to it. It was intended as an extension of the library but that dream rose and fell. Well now, at last, this historic building has been acquired by Heart of Hastings CLT who will bring it back to life as a Community hub. Lauris Morgan-Griffiths went along to the celebration of its successful acquisition to learn more.

Council go-ahead for Observer building renovation

WRVN’s plans to transform the former Observer building in the Trinity Triangle have been given the go-ahead by council planners. The project is part of the Heritage Action Zone initiative, for which Historic England has announced funding of £2m. Nick Terdre reports.
