His Place wins £250,000 grant for vital repairs and music heritage project

Vital repairs will soon get under way at His Place Community Church in central Hastings following the award of a grant of nearly £250,000 from Lottery funds. The money will also enable a music heritage project to go ahead, as the church explains.

Free concert as Opus Theatre reopens on Saturday

Come along and celebrate the reopening of the Opus Theatre in His Place community church at a free concert on Saturday, with a diverse programme of musical entertainment arranged by founder, director and composer Polo Piatti. Nick Terdre reports.

Grant to kickstart urgent repair programme at His Place

The future is looking brighter for His Place community church following the award of a grant from Historic England to perform detailed planning for an extensive programme of repairs and to research its musical heritage. An open day and free concert is planned on 12 March which the church hopes will help drum up community support for its bid for funds to implement the repairs. Nick Terdre reports.

Over and Out for Artshelter?

During the long wait for a bus, local artist and writer, Maureen Connett, has been pondering what can be done to cheer up the town centre, in particular the bus stops at Queens Road. She would have liked to share her art portraying local places in Hastings on the empty spaces at the bus shelters, but it looks like the Pandemic may have put paid to a ‘laudable initiative’.
