Harrow Lane playing field sale prompts Tory protest meeting

Conservative councillors have called a protest meeting for Saturday 10 July against the sale by the council of the Harrow Lane playing field, which is among a cluster of four sites in the area where housing developments are planned. Nick Terdre reports.

Closed Country Park footpath to be reopened this year

Full access to Ecclesbourne Glen in Hastings Country Park will finally be restored with the reopening of the main footpath later this year. But according to Save Ecclesbourne Glen group, the failure to investigate the causes of the landslip will make future monitoring of land stability more difficult. Women’s Voice programme offers space for young women to discuss and challenge sexism

Women’s Voice has received funding from Comic Relief to run various activities for women aged 16-26. The events aim to empower young women and provide spaces for them to discuss and challenge sexism. The first event, finding power through self-portrait, takes place this coming Saturday. Ann Kramer, chair of Women’s Voice, explains a little more.

Mental health challenges posed by immigration detention put lockdown strains in perspective

Sea Change’s North Queensway plans prompt many objections

Sea Change Sussex has filed its application to build industrial units on the site of the undeveloped North Queensway Innovation Park, prompting the submission of some 70 objections and a petition. Hastings gets more pop-up clinics as jab rate falters

Further pop-up clinics have been arranged in Hastings to provide opportunities for more residents to get a first vaccine jab. The vaccination rate has fallen sharply this month and the town still has a long way to go before enough of the population has had two jabs to achieve herd immunity. Coronavirus statistical update: Delta on the rise, in East Sussex as elsewhere
