Last-ditch attempt to turn MP on refugee bill

A vigil was held and letters handed in at the Conservative Party headquarters in St Leonards yesterday in a last-ditch attempt to persuade MP Sally-Ann Hart to reverse her support for the government’s Nationality and Borders bill, which looks likely to come up for a final vote in the Commons next week. Refugee support groups unite to oppose Patel’s hard line against asylum-seekers

Online event will throw light on Napier Barracks scandal

Mass Covid outbreak in Home Office camp for asylum-seekers

A mass outbreak of Covid-19 has taken place in Napier Barracks, Folkestone, where the Home Office has consigned several hundred men seeking asylum in overcrowded and deprived conditions under the unsympathetic care of a private contractor. Busy month for local refugee support groups

October is a month of action on various fronts for local refugee support groups, including a food collection this coming weekend, a poster campaign around town and the delivery of a petition urging the government to lift the ban on asylum seekers working – all this against the background of the Home Secretary’s announcement that she plans to reform the “broken” asylum system. Sally-Ann Hart’s claims of “illegal migrants” contested

Hastings and Rye MP Sally-Ann Hart is concerned about refugees crossing the Channel in small boats and making landfall along the south-east coast.
