All you need to know about heat pumps and solar panels!
Energise Sussex Coast is inviting residents along to a series of free information events to learn about air source heat pumps and solar pv panels, as they explain.
Everything You Need To Know About Heat Pumps takes place on Thursday 16 June at 7pm and Everything You Need To Know About Solar Panels on Thursday 14 July at 7pm. Both events will be held in the new community space called the Common Room at 27 Cambridge Road, TN34 1HG, in Hastings.
“The events will let residents know how these technologies work, what houses they are suitable for and any funding available for them,” said Kate Meakin from Energise Sussex Coast. “There will be lots of time to ask questions too!”
“The sharp rise in energy costs and the awareness about moving away from gas boilers to heat pumps means we are getting lots of questions about heat pumps and solar panels. We’ve organised these free events to give people the chance to learn more without being pressured by sales people.”
The events are funded by the National Lottery’s Together for Our Planet Fund.
Last year the UK government announced its Heat and Buildings Strategy which outlines its plans for how we will transition from fossil fuel powered heating to renewable sources as part of its policy to reduce carbon emissions to net zero by 2050.
Finding an alternative to fossil fuels is absolutely key to reaching net zero. To do this the government has launched a £450m Boiler Upgrade Scheme which offers £5,000 grants to replace gas boilers with low carbon heating systems. This means that heat pumps will become increasingly commonplace, as will generating some of your own electricity on your roof with solar panels.
Energise Sussex Coast is a local not-for-profit Community Energy Co-operative which offers an energy advice service to help residents lower bills and save energy. We are also working with local communities to come up with decarbonsation plans to help move away from fossil fuels.
