In memoriam: Brian Hick

The music and arts critic Brian Hick, who acted as HOT’s music correspondent for a couple of years, sadly passed away in May after a period of illness. We are grateful to his colleague Stephen Page for permission to reprint his obituary from Lark Reviews, a website dedicated to news and reviews of classical music and poetry set up by Brian and now run by Stephen.

Jill Theis, saviour of the De La Warr Pavilion

Jill Theis, who died in March aged 90, will be remembered for her many contributions to public life, both when she served on Rother District Council and subsequently, but chiefly as the prime mover in saving the iconic De La Warr Pavilion. Cllr Sue Prochak, deputy leader of the council, pays tribute to her friend and fellow politician.
