HIPCC postponed to early 2022

The Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition has been postponed to early 2022, due to ongoing COVID 19 restrictions, writes Chris Cormack.

Hastings Musical Festival has extended deadlines for its Virtual Festival 2021

The Hastings Musical Festival (HMF) has already had almost 600 entries for its Virtual Festival. Teachers in all sections said they had hoped to use the January school term to complete teaching and recording of performances for uploading, but this is no longer possible given the new lockdown, writes Chris Cormack.

Hastings International Piano announces Digital Festival

Headlining Hastings International Piano’s one-day Digital Festival will be Rufus Wainwright, and there will also be piano recitals by Maxim Kinasov and Martin James Bartlett, together with a piano masterclass given by Professor Vanessa Latarche, says HOT’s Chris Cormack.

Lynne Page has put together an exquisite cast of performers for some specially produced dance theatre, entitled ‘Wingspan,’ to be held at Bridgepoint, the new creative arts complex in Rye, celebrating the tenacity of the human spirit in this extraordinary time. The music is an inspired combination of Shostakovich, Debussy, Ravel and Elbow, writes Chris Cormack.

Welcome back to newly normal!

Until I visited an Oxford Lieder recital at Fairlight Hall last Saturday evening, I didn’t realise how much I have been missing live music in the good old way (but still subject to social distancing). Now the Hastings Philharmonic are also back to work with a whole programme, a minimum of six events to delight us – a leap of faith in these difficult times, writes Chris Cormack.
