The Hastings Musical Festival (HMF) has already had almost 600 entries for its Virtual Festival. Teachers in all sections said they had hoped to use the January school term to complete teaching and recording of performances for uploading, but this is no longer possible given the new lockdown, writes Chris Cormack.

Until I visited an Oxford Lieder recital at Fairlight Hall last Saturday evening, I didn’t realise how much I have been missing live music in the good old way (but still subject to social distancing).
