Hastings Easter Festival online

This year, the Hastings Easter Festival will be streaming over three evenings: Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday at 8pm, each for up to an hour with a range of music artists performing, writes HOT’s Vanessa Alves.

Hastings Musical Festival has extended deadlines for its Virtual Festival 2021

The Hastings Musical Festival (HMF) has already had almost 600 entries for its Virtual Festival. Teachers in all sections said they had hoped to use the January school term to complete teaching and recording of performances for uploading, but this is no longer possible given the new lockdown, writes Chris Cormack.

St Leonards Festival head-piece at Hastings Arts Forum

Local stained glass artist Alan Wright has recently installed this beautiful Marine Court head-piece in the window of Hastings Arts Forum on Marina in St Leonards. The carnival mask/head-piece was made for St Leonards Festival carnival parade in 2007 – for the first carnival parade which was in the second year of St Leonards Festival. Virtual Jack in the Green proves worldwide success

May Day means Jack in the Green, but in the era of coronavirus the festival had to go virtual. It proved a rip-roaring success, with viewers and participants joining in from around the world, JitG chair of trustees Keith Leech told Nick Terdre. Jack In The Green festival invites town to dress up and celebrate together online for the NHS

Khalil Patwa reads H.G.Wells’ words

This year’s A Town Explores A Book festival officially starts on Thursday 2 April with a live online broadcast of Khalil Patwa reading from H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine. Last year Khalil read the whole of Robinson Crusoe in instalments to an enthralled audience in the Bookkeeper bookshop. HOT’s Erica Smith asked him about H.G. Wells, and how he is going to deliver this classic text to us.
