Huge public support for Make Park Safer campaign

A petition to make the town’s historic and much-loved Alexandra Park safer by installing CCTV and lighting has gained over 17,000 signatures in just over a week. It was started on Wednesday last week by Claire Noble, whose best friend was brutally attacked there in daylight last June. Emma Harwood reports.

Park cafe owners close doors to Sunday anti lockdown demonstrators

The owners of the cafe in Alexandra Park will be opening later on Sunday mornings  to avoid serving protesters they say are “mocking the sacrifices we have all made” by gathering in breach of coronavirus rules. Emma Harwood reports.

Concerns raised over proposed AI surveillance system

A surveillance system with the capacity for facial recognition is due to be installed in Central St Leonards, raising questions over whether more adequate public consultation should have been carried out. Emma Harwood reports.

Wonder Golf – a fun finale to a crazy year

FROM Fat Tuesday’s musical extravaganza in February through to Bonfire in October, Hastings usually thrives on its fun-packed calendar  of festivals and cultural events. It is perhaps not surprising then that in true Hastings spirit this difficult year of cancelled celebrations is being rounded off with a pop-up nine-hole crazy golf course at The Observer Building in Cambridge Road.
