After their highly acclaimed debut playing Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s just a few months ago, The Fabulous Red Diesel are returning just before Christmas and there are still tickets remaining if you’d like to travel with them on their hired coach up to central London. HOT’s Zelly Restorick heard from lead singer-songwriter, Kat Lee Ryan (aka ‘Miss Kitty’) about the band’s latest adventures.
Playing Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s is a long-term dream come true for local jazz-funk band, The Fabulous Red Diesel, who have secured a gig there on the evening of Sunday 24 April. Local band, Fabulous Red Diesel are a fusion of kooky jazz and hearty soul, creating a perfect background for vocals that will make any listener melt. The band has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, offering top quality, professional, unique musicianship – and word of their ability to enchant an audience is spreading across the county and the country. Our next chance to see them is at The Rye Jazz Festival. HOT’s Zelly Restorick spoke to lead singer, Kat Lee-Ryan and Wil Lee-Ryan.
Kat Lee-Ryan is one of Hastings’ shiniest, sharpest living treasures – throughout lockdown she broadcast a nightly show of lullabies from her home studio, she is half of Kat Dog and the driving force behind big band The Fabulous Red Diesel. She is also the creator of the wonderful musical Sparkly Bird, part of this year’s Brighton Fringe festival which launches this week. Erica Smith sings the praises of this amazing show which explores the flying highs and deadly lows of a young woman at odds with her mental health.
