An evening in with…Jean Paul Gasparian
This Friday evening, 3 July, Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition prizewinner Jean Paul Gasparian will join us for a live performance of beautiful music, writes Chris Cormack.
The sixteenth in this series of short online concerts presented by Hastings International Piano is given by 2013 Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition prizewinner Jean-Paul Gasparian from France, who gave a flamboyant performance of Liszt’s Concerto No. 1 as his prizewinning performance.
Born in Paris in 1995, since winning his prize in Hastings, Jean Paul has pursued an impressive career, and he also found time to graduate from the Royal College of Music in London (Artist Diploma), under the tutelage of Professor Vanessa Latarche. Prof Latarche recently succeeded to the position of chair of judges for the HIPCC following the retirement of Frank Wibaut.
Programme:
Chopin– Mazurkas op.30 no.1 and 2
Rachmaninoff – Prelude op.23 no.4
Scriabin– Fantasy op.28
In these times when the livelihood of our musicians is at risk, this series supports the careers of HIPCC prizewinners and, of course, they receive a performance fee.
The concerts are free to view, but viewers will be able to make a voluntary donation to Hastings International Piano Engagement Fund here, or choose to join as a Friend here.
