A Twelfth Night double bill

Theatre is back! Two performances in one evening at The Stables Theatre! Two talented, veteran actors! Two solo shows! Both influenced by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Both written and directed by renowned local playwright, John Knowles. One night only! Bringing their brilliance to the stage, Patrick Kealey performs in ‘Fiction Romance’ and Sidney Keane in ‘Toby Belch (is unwell)’. Both have had 5 star reviews and now we have a chance to see them in our own town. Fully accessible theatre. HOT’s Zelly Restorick writes.

TONIGHT! (Wed 2 June) Art On Fire!

Tonight Francis Viner, Patrick Kealey and Sam Sharples aspire to catalyse, inspire and create community communication with their pop-up film and connection event, ‘Arts On Fire’. Communication with the co-creative community of Hastings and St Leonards – and emanating beyond these boundaries – inclusive of all: artist and non-artist. (We’re all artists underneath it all.) They interviewed a number of creative expressionists, taking the temperature of the times, asking: How are arts creators faring? What keeps them going right now? What inspires and infuriates them in our unfolding pandemic world? What is at the heart of their process? What role does art play in their life? HOT’s Zelly Restorick asked Patrick Kealey for more details.

The Life and Rhymes of Archy and Mehitabel

Director, actor, writer and local resident, Patrick Kealey – of local theatre company, Theatre Nation – is about to step out onto the stage in a solo show: The Life and Rhymes of Archy and Mehitabel. Kealey not only adapted the humourous, cult comic writings of Don Marquis (well-known for his highly satirical observations of the human race), he also deliciously embodies each of the fascinating characters, including both Archy and Mehitabel – and more. HOT’s Zelly Restorick tuned in to listen to Kealey’s recent conversation with actor and comedian, Ben Keaton and shares some highlights here. Photos by Peter Mould.
