A book for Christmas for every school child in Hastings!

This Christmas the news from The National Literacy Trust is that there will be a book for every school child in Hastings. Bloomsbury is donating 9,000 books to be given to school children from reception to Year 9, ages 5-14. The three-year Bloomsbury and the National Literacy Trust partnership aim to inspire a love of reading and improve literacy levels in Hastings.

Independent shows his hand as candidates raise concerns

Ahead of the first hustings on Friday afternoon, the independent candidate, who will be present at it, is making himself known. Government policies affecting poverty, the NHS and education have come under fire from the Labour and Lib Dem candidates, whil the Tory candidate has declared her opposition to the council’s plans for a large housing development on the old bathing pool site. Hustings arranged for Friday in town centre

Election hustings will be held on Friday afternoon in the town centre, courtesy of Extinction Rebellion’s local branch. The presence of three of the four candidates is confirmed. Places must be booked and questions submitted beforehand. Nick Terdre reports.

Wheels, and a grant, will help energy advice group reach residents in remoter parts

Energise Sussex Coast’s winter energy advice service has resumed. And with the aid of an Energy Caravan the group will be extending its service to out-of-town areas. Nick Terdre reports.
