Safety measures at the Electric Palace
As part of its reopening measures in late August post lockdown, the Electric Palace now has just 15 tickets available per screening event. Tickets are available via advance online booking only, to reduce the amount of face-to-face contact required in the building.
Cinema director, Rebecca Marshall, says of the cinema’s reopening measures:
“We have worked hard to ensure the cinema is as safe as possible for staff, volunteers and guests, which remains our top priority.
We chose to open with these very intimate events in order to celebrate independent cinema and community; our volunteers and audience make this kind of event possible.”

Volunteers meet you at the door to escort you into the cinema
Before reopening, the cinema surveyed its supporters and customers about the planned safety measures. Results were overwhelmingly positive.
- “Very well organised measures”
- “Was nervous about wearing a mask for the film but it wasn’t as bad as I expected. Now I’ve been I’ll definitely come back.
- “Shame there are no snacks”
- “Feel a bit tiddly drinking prosecco through a straw”
- “The maximum number of 15 people in the cinema felt really spacious”
The Electric Palace has chosen to reintroduce its popular Thursday morning screenings following some of the feedback from regular customers. Of those surveyed 74 percent said they would like to attend Thursday morning screenings again were they to recommence.
